Our Team

President: Latanda Graves
Currently an Elementary School Counselor for Chicago Public Schools. She birthed two sons and inherited a son and daughter from a previous marriage. She also has many bonus sons and daughters that call her mom. Joseph, her oldest was killed on December 11, 2015 due to gun violence. A team of health related service providers that she works closely with knew how much she loves her kids as well as all kids. They decided to come up with the idea of starting a foundation in her son’s name. The idea was brought to Latanda and she agreed. The Joseph C. Graves Foundation “Break the Silence and Stop the Violence” was started June of 2017. The mission is to help decrease violence among our youth by creating opportunities through scholarships and community service that will inspire and enrich the lives of individuals through choreographed movements. The foundation has had 2 fundraiser events and adopted a family for Christmas. The have even bigger plans to support the youth in future.

Vice President: Sharon Call
Currently a School Nurse for Chicago Public Schools. Sharon believes one of her life missions is to serve and give to others. Sharon has over twenty years of nursing experience and has taken care of many people that were victims of different types of violence, such as, gun, domestic, and youth violence. She has witness how violence and abuse can impact the victims, their children, families, and communities. These effects can include harm to individuals spiritual, mental, and physical health. Sharon also believes that we cannot be comfortable with violence. We must actively work to decrease violence in our homes, schools, and communities. For this reason, Sharon is grateful for the JCG foundation because it gives opportunities to impact the youth and communities of the city of Chicago. These opportunities will spark a positive change in our youth and the citizens of Chicago.

Secretary: Aisha Kinslow
Currently a School Social Worker for Chicago Public Schools. She has a history of working with youth and social services in various capacities. Her dedication and passion for children and social justice led her to the field of social work. As a school social worker, she has witnessed the
horrendous effects that gun violence has had on our community, especially with our youth. But the death of her friend’s son, Joseph C. Graves, impacted her life significantly. As a result of this tragedy Aisha helped to create a foundation in the memory of Joseph’s life. She hopes that the foundation will assist with Breaking the Silence and Stopping the Violence.

Treasurer: Kim Johnson
Currently an Occupational Therapist for Chicago Public Schools. She has been an OT for the past 20 years and have worked in many areas and with many populations. My passion to assist individuals to facilitate independence from rehabilitation to education setting has been very rewarding. She has worked with various teenagers in both settings who too has been victimized from gun violence. The tragic event of gun violence with Joseph hit close to home and has impacted his family and friends. We have collectively decided to create The Joseph C. Graves foundation and our mission is to support families of victims of gun violence and promote Breaking the Silence and Stopping the Violence.
